Fly Fishing Guide For Beginners

When fishing is slow

You might have stayed in the same spot for hours but no luck. Don’t be frustrated. There could be just something you need to change, the fly pattern, the presentation, and type of fly, and etc.

Here’s some changes you could make whenever fishing is getting slower.

The first thing you can do is switch to a smaller one fly, or a larger one, or darker or lighter one but keep the same fly such as dry fly or wet fly.

If nothing happens, change the direction from which you approach a lie and cast to it. Read the water and then take the best position to present the type of fly.

If dry flies do not work, switch to wet flies or vice versa.

If you’ve fished in one spot for a while and try everything listed above and still cannot land any fish, then just simply move on to another location. You may also consider to fish in different water like switching from riffles to pools or from runs to bank water. Try to what type of water holds the fish and start from there.
